Ann Demeulemeester: sheer nomads
An impressive cast of nomadic silhouettes saw the Ann Demeulemeester collection manifest in the name of freedom of movement. The desert inspiration is the continuation of her menswear collection presented in June. That time Demeulemeester expressed her internal feeling about the desert environment. On the contrary, the spring 2012 womenswear collection is more divided into a decadent-androgynous tribe detailed with wide brimmed hats, chain and fringed necklaces, silk fringes and tassels or jet beading. The inspirational image was personified with the Swiss writer and traveler Isabelle Eberhardt, known for her mannish style and romantic aesthetic. The collection is very desert-oriented – based on a black and white palette and implemented with sandy neutrals, soft browns and smoke grey.
