Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week-2012

GAURI & NAINIKA
Social trends have always dictated fashion and World War 2 changed the world of fashion forever. Strongly influenced by the austerity drive of the wartime era, the Gauri & Nainika Spring-Summer 2012 collection is reminiscent of the time when women had to "make do and mend".
As fabric was severely rationed in the 40s, the fripperies of pre-war fashion dressing were abandoned and a sharper and more tailored style of dress emerged. Taking inspiration from this restrained yet strong and extremely stylish look, the collection consists of a Spartan silhouette with narrow hips, tailored shoulders and conservative necklines. With slender dresses and narrow gowns, military style playsuits, utility suits, rompers and jumpers, the line has been designed in vibrant vintage tones using fluid crepe de chine.
